Today, inspiration is everywhere. Beautiful interiors, furniture, colors, and styles are at our fingertips, making it easier than ever to imagine how a space could look. Yet an image cannot explain how a person lives, what makes them comfortable, or what they truly need.

My interest in psychology brought me closer to those questions. I wanted to understand the everyday life behind each project: the moments of gathering, the frustrations, the need for quiet, and the things that make someone feel like themselves.

I also believe decoration should happen gradually. A space does not need to be fully furnished from the beginning. Living in it allows a person to discover what is missing and choose furniture and objects that feel right over time. Personal taste deserves room to develop. Some of the most meaningful pieces are the ones found along the way.

What matters to me first is understanding the space itself. Whether indoors or outdoors, its layout shapes how people move, spend time alone, and connect with others. Through thoughtful questions, I explore the client’s routines, priorities, and aspirations, building an understanding of what the space needs to support and reflect.

This is the approach I have built into Purple Bees through spatial design strategy. Sometimes, those conversations lead to a different layout. Sometimes, they reveal that very little needs to change. Something a client initially wanted may become less important once the need behind it is understood.

For me, a meaningful outcome is helping a person feel clearer about their own needs—and confident enough to shape their space at their own pace.
